Is mandatory alcohol treatments ok? How effective do you think they are? Why do you think not/so?

Considerations:
Cost/benefit
effectiveness of compulsive treatment
right to privacy regarding behavioral choices
and choice of medical treatment

You can’t compulsively treat anyone who doesn’t want to be treated.

Its YOUR choice to behave as you do, therefore its your choice to get better or not.

Cut the crap…..stop being a softie. Got an alcohol problem, being anti-social? Go out on a desert island where no-one else lives, and hunt your own food, plant your own crops, be self-sufficient. Betcha, all the alcohol problems suddenly disappear – or else you’ll die…Either way, society has benefitted.

You can’t force someone treat a problem they won’t admit/don’t know they have. The best thing to do is surround them with their friends and loved ones that acknowledge their problem and highlight it until they realize their addiction. Otherwise, they won’t respond to treatment if they don’t think they have a problem.
