How to make frozen type of alcoholic drink?

I have a blender and want to make frozen alcoholic drinks. Every time I have tried in the past, it never ends up frozen, it’s always liquid or with tiny ice pieces still in it. How do I get the drink to be frozen, like you would get from a restaurant?
I follow the directions of whatever I’m trying to make, so however much ice they say is what I use. I’m not sure my ingredients are always cold, though – so maybe that’s the problem!

All ingredients should be cold. Are you using enough ice?

mix the drink and then freeze it stirring several times. After it is frozen then blend it .It will take about 3-4 hours. It will not freeze completely because of the Alcohol in the drink

If your not opposed to a little investment, you can have your own “Slushee” machine at home! I didn’t do extensive research, but quickly found one at Sears for $56.24.

How cool would that be next time your entertaining guests! Just have to master the consistency and ingredients when adding the alcohol in there. Sounds like a plan to me :)

This might sound odd, but what kind of ice are you using? If you are using large cubes out of a standard ice tray, that may be your problem. Most restaurants ice cubes are much smaller and therefore blend better. As far as ingredients being cold, not necessary. I make frozen drinks at work all the time, it makes no difference.
If you are using large ice cubes buy a bag of ice at a convenience store and try that.
It could be the blender too. Some are made more specifically for making frozen drinks.
