What do you think? Should Mexico legalize marijuana, cocaine, and heroin?

I read on the news today there’s new law before the Mexican lawmakers to legalize certain amounts of these drugs in their country & that it will probably pass.
Sounds scary to me.( I’m an American citizen)http://home.bellsouth.net/s/editorial.dll?pnum=1&bfromind=835&eeid=4939391&_sitecat=122&dcatid=0&eetype=article&render=y&ac=2&ck=&ch=ne
Debra, please read the news article, it’s not just marijuana.
Another good reason why our country should secure the borders!

Yes it is a bit scary that they are doing this but to be honest last time I went to Mexico [I hated it btw] you could buy almost anything from their pharmacies so they have no scruples really!

Why not? It might encourage some Mexicans to stay.

Of course, it could have a bunch of crack addicts sneak over our border and start gangs. Which wouldn’t be good. I take back my first comment. Legalizing it would be the stupidest thing ever.

Only marijuana-in fact, that should happen here too!

To me this is a shameless attempt to exploit American tourism. I also believe that it is a very dangerous proposal, it will make it harder to support a drug free America if our closest neighbor does not support the same values.

Mexico is trying everything it can to keep their people home, its pretty bad when they have to resort to this. Bottom line is…their people are willing to sneak into the USA to have a chance at the dream as apposed to legalized drugs. I personally don’t think they are illegal immigrants, I see them as people that want the same dream as the USA citizens. (They are us-Multicultural as one!)

AS far as I know, they already HAVE legalized it – and it is appalling!!! The U.S. has fought drug wars and terrorism globally – but do you think this administration will do anything about Bush’s buddy in Mexico? I don’t think so …. is there anybody left in the United States who thinks Mexico is a “friendly nation”?

Mexico is such a lousy place to live, most of its citizens want to flee to other countries. This is just another pathetic attempt by the Mexican government to keep the Mexican home.

This is scary! I think it will cause more drugs to be brought into the U.S., as if there aren’t enough already! What a BAD idea!!!!!

what is truly scary is that anyone believes that the goverment of any country should be authorized to make such substances “”illegal” in the first place- the act of prohibition does not in the least restrict the availablity of any such substance, but does give them the artificially extreme prices that make them such a wonderful profit center for both the criminals that are willing to deal in them, as well as giving government an easy excuse for huge “drug war” budgets, and easy excuses to erode the rights of any and all of it’s citizens- if all such possesion were legalized, dealing for profit made a life sentence offense (provided that the law provides that proof of “profit” is required for a conviction) and a mere 10% of the funds “used” to “fight” drug abuse were put into cost free addiction treatment programs at no cost to the addicted, there would be no “drug problem”.

HECK NO!!!!!!!!! And all the more reason for coming down on illegal immigrants that sneak into the US! When they come, they are bringing their beliefs, values, drugs and money making opportunities with them! If they weren’t trying to do that, why do they have to come to the US illegally?
