I know most of them contain sugar. But, is their any out there that doesn’t have alot of sugar in them? Or any beer that can be had. I have a friend that is drinking alot of flavored shots like lemon drops etc. I want to tell her there is something out there she can drink. She won’t drink a non-alcoholic drink. Before she kills herself.

Unless the diabetic has death wish, they shud refrain from alcohol.
But if they really wanna, they cud play an inventor and make diet beer or something.
Like with anything its about moderation. My dad is diabetic and takes his diet very seriously, but has the occasional glass of wine here and there without any problems. He tends to avoid beers, lagers and ciders though because of their high sugar content.
Good luck with it.
I am a diabetic and I love to drink alcohol! I have done extensive reading and this is what I advise you to do. Generally speaking – all alcohol metabolises into glucose – so it’s really the quantity that’s important. I normally try and have diet beer and otherwise red wine. Of course – you can’t have huge amounts of it – and you have to watch out what you snack with the drink.
What helps me sometimes is to have a spritzer – so a little wine topped with soda – it’s a drink you can stretch for a while, and repeat without feeling guilty!
All alcohol is high in sugar. Even a shot of pure vodka is very high in calories. Adding pure white sugar to an already high in sugar drink just adds to the problem.
Perhaps a light beer if she has to drink. But if she drinks a 12 pack of them at one sitting it may not make a difference.
Maybe she is depressed about her condition and doesn’t care. Perhaps what she needs is love and support.
Can I drink alcohol?
Yes, in moderation. Moderation is defined as two drinks a day for men and one drink a day for women. A drink is a 5-ounce glass of wine, a 12-ounce light beer, or 1-1/2 ounces of 80-proof distilled spirits. Make sure that your medications don’t require avoiding alcohol, and get your doctor’s okay.
It’s best to just stay away from them… trust me. I became diabetic due to drinking too much beer.
im a 28 yr old diabetic and love to go out and drink too but I have rules I pick a buddy usuall the dd to watch out for me I test my sugars often, dance alot(excercise) helps keep sugars low,and mix drinks with diet pop! I have great friends who help me and we dont do it every weekend with a little planning a night out could be a lot of fun!
it’s not safe to drink alcohol at all when your a diabetic this will only hurt you in the long run.
this can also bring on other things that is not a good thing for your body to go through and can kill ya to.
you don’t mix meds and alcohol together
Alcohol is bad for you period, no matter what some science or medical journal may say to the contrary. It is especially bad diabetics. Drinking alcohol lowers your vitamin B12 which helps to metabolize carbs. I would recommend no alcohol, but remember it is you that has the control to ultimately decide what advise to go with, just consider the consequences.
none alcohol turns straight into sugar!!!!!!! Ifear that there is no substitute and she must not care that much about her health or she would stop drinking. good luck
Everyone always says how alcohol turns into sugar, but I never noticed my blood sugar levels rise from drinking beer or wine, any more than consuming the same amount of any other food would. Just remember what you are ingesting; you should avoid the sweet drinks and stick with beer or wine; monitor your blood sugar at the end of the night (at least) and don’t get too wasted.
The biggest concern for diabetics drinking alcohol is that diabetics normally have an acute awareness of their blood glucose level and how it is trending, and as a result make informed decisions at bedtime: whether to eat something, take insulin, or to do nothing at all. On the contrary, when a diabetic is drunk, they are less aware of their present condition, and like a typical drunk, tend to make erratic, capricious and ill-informed decisions, such as eating 4 slices of pizza and taking 20 units of insulin before bed. That is the true danger.
I am an alcoholic who does not drink. I went on a 6 month drinking binge and wound up visited by paramedics and in the hospital 4 times in the last two months of this time, coming within a hair’s width of dying due to improper eating and medication choices. My entire system became very fragile, was having severe, life-threatening hypoglycemic episodes even while sober. After the last time it happend, I swore off drinking (over a year ago) and I haven’t had any problems since.
As a diabetic you should not drink alcohol.
Unless you want to pay the consequences later with your sugars being crazy and erratic.
Trust me, one drink is not worth the complications.
ER visits are not fun after a party.
Not sure if this is true or not buy my doctor told me that alcohol will lower your blood surgars. But I guess that will cause a problem that sometime (at least for me) low blood surgar kinda makes me act drunk…so if she is going to drink she should just be sure to check her surgar alot and have some snacks readily available. Here is a link that talks about alcohol and diabetes. (It says there that it will lower your surgars also…so YAY! No more insulin…just gimme a captain morgans! j/k).
