    It is incinerated

It is evidence… just like the cars, guns, boats that they capture. In all likelyhood, after a conviction the drugs are probably destroyed. I know that the cars, boats, etc are sold.

First of all, they have to keep an account of it so that it does not disappear. Secondly, they have a system to destroy all illegal substances. Other recovered items (e.g. an abandoned car) are generally auctioned and the money goes to the state.

It is catalouged and held in police lock up for some time, I think it varies, but like 10 years, that way, if the owner of the property is ever found, or more info on the case, it can be used as evidence.

If there is a court process involved it is also held in police lock up until such time as any appeal period has expired and then it is destroyed….

how it is destroyed, I do not know…if it is incinerated, the guy that does that must be high alot….lol.

They keep it in evidence lockers until the case is over and then they destroy it. Their methods of destruction usually consists of burning it.

It depends, I talked to a person once that knew some drug dealers. She said that sometimes you can find a corupt officer that resell them back to the dealers. But most of the time they will use it as evidence and then destory it(unless they can use it in other durg busts or to train dogs with.)

They hold it as evidence. Eventually they will destroy it. I think they burn it, but I’m not sure if all of them burn or if some use a different method.

The drugs are logged in to an evidence lock up generally. Often they are submitted to a crime lab to determine what the substance actually is. A lab report will be provided to the DA, for use at any hearing or trial. The Drugs are normally kept in the lock up, or stored at the lab until trial. After trial or guilty plea the evidence is still kept until the time for appeals has passed. That time limit is normally 45 days, after that the police may request a release from the prosecutor or DA. The evidence will be released from lock up and disposed of according to State Law in many locations. Generally the substances are incinerated or flushed in the presence of at least two people who document the disposal.

Crooked, overpaid, donut eating, Miami Vice wanna be’s steal whatever they can .Thinking they deserve it and it makes it’s way back to the street. Or the politician who lost it makes a call or two and gets it back. Either way it’s back on the street. Where Jose and Tyrique sell it to your kids. America the beautiful.

It is placed into evidence at the police station. Then, It is transferred to a crime lab for analysis to verify that it is an illegal narcotic, even if that is obvious. It is stored in an police evidece facility for court and appeals purposes. It is eventually destroyed after a period of time.

when police and officials find drugs after they make an arrest they book it in the evidence log book and they put it in a locker for the AI (accident investigator) and he puts the drugs in the evidence locker room where no one but the AI officer has a key to. so the rummer that the officers smoke the drugs is not true. the officers don’t ever get rid of the drugs because the case may re-open and they need to keep the drugs because they might be a connection to the case.

A cop took some weed off of me once when I got a DUI. I went to court for the DUI, and the weed was never mentioned. I wasn’t about to say anything. I bet the officer got pretty high though.

They keep it. For evidence and sting operations

While most cops are good cops, there are the few that aren’t, and I know this from personal experience. There was a member of my family who confiscated some weed one time and did less than follow the procedures. He didn’t make it very far in the police business. But he got high.
