My best friend a alcoholic and is in desperate need for a job. All the application shes filled out have been denied. Is there any way for her to get a job.
i dont see how the employers reviewing her applications would know that she is an alcoholic….
perhaps she needs to step in an entry level position and work her way up. i usually suggest a night job at walmart (they hire anyone) also good jobs include cooks at restaurants, house cleaners, bowling alley attendent.
Tell her to go to AA meetings and then she can keep saying to all the AA people she needs a job and is willing to go to any lengths to get a job. Make sure the meetings are good in size then good chance she will get a job. Or at least she needs to be sober while filling out the applications and sober at interviews and stay sober on the job if she gets one and wants to keep it. Best of luck for her.
There is no sense in trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. If she is that desperate for a job and she feels that her alcoholism is the determining factor then maybe she should try and become sober, or maybe there are other things that she is not aware of that are causing her failure to get a job.
All alcoholics are not exactly liquor fiends and that does not mean that they are not fuctional and smell like booze all the time. Alcoholism is a disease, a habit and a sickness. I’m an acoholic myself. Yes, really. Once I have a drink its hard for me to stop. But I can. Also, I have a nice home and a good job. Unless I told you- you would never know. I hope that shes not putting that on her application. Thats a private matter.
unless your friend is looking drunk, i dont see how the employers will deny her because of drunkness. your friend should make sure she’s sober and clean. maybe try talking to some authorities.
First off, alcoholism is NOT a disease, its a problem with self control. Second, don’t turn in applications drunk or smelling of alcohol and someone might hire her. Or start filling out applications at bars to mask the smell.
an active alcoholic needs to become a RECOVERING ALCOHOLIC before anything is going to chnage or improve offer to check out an AA meeting with your friend if you really care about “your friend” you’ll be surprised at how normal everyone seems just like your firend but the first step is admitting there’s a problem go for it
Your “friend” is not getting hired because she needs to keep trying. I think “her” job interviews are going wrong. Tell “her” to dress appropriately for the interview…..and by appropriately I mean, business like.
