How bad of an alcoholic is a person that drinks a pint of crown royal a day and several beers?

It may be a little more than a pint of crown royal a day, on days when he has more available to drink. He started drinking at like 18, he says, but it may be before that. and he drank heavy ever since, and he is 51 now, almost 52. how bad is he? a half gallon of crown, bar size is gone in like 3 days or less. like, what level alcoholic is he?

A very bad alcoholic. A person drinking that much cannot stop on their own. They require hospitalization in fact because detoxing from alcohol (once alcoholism gets that bad) can cause delerium tremmons which is a condition where the person hallucinates, shakes and becomes very anxious. The real danger in alcohol withdrawl is that the person can go into cardiac arrest (the heart stops beating). So there is no sense in trying to get them to stop without professional help. I work in an emergency room and we have people come in all the time and are hospitalized because they need help to quit drinking. Good luck getting through to your loved one. It may take a massive intervention to get them to stop if they aren’t ready.

There is no measure for the degree of alcoholic you are. You can drink all your life and never be an alcoholic. However heavy drinking is bad for ones health. To my knowledge there are no set definitions for an alcoholic. there are some basic question that could indicate if you are. Such as 1.Do you drink alone? 2.Has it caused a problem with your mate? 3. Has it caused a problem at work? 4. Do you drink early in the day? 5. Do you drink for medicinal purposes? such as to sleep or for pain. 6. Do you drink to forget or escape some emotional pain. Answering yes to these may be an indicator that you are an alcoholic. Even though alcohol is not considered a drug it is. If you determine you are an alcoholic you can get on line and contact an AA group or meeting. to find one in your area googole it. Don’t try to do it alone. get help. A lot of aa meetings are held in church check with local churches. Prayer is a powerful tool even recognized by scientists.

That is quite a lot to drink, and that might be demonstrable of a problem if not a habit. Try taking this test http://www.recoveryconnection.org/alcoholism_test/ and applying it to him, because the clincher is more so how it effects your life more than anything else.
