That depends on a lot of factors. Does the suspect alky get up and toss down a cold one to feel better? Alky
OR
Does the person start at a set time in the evening and keep going till all hours of the night till all their booze is gone? OMG I is an alky!
Both scenarios are typical.
I gotta say the internet is mighty addictive too.
It’s not necessarily how much or how often a person drinks, it’s whether or not a person has full control over themselves on when and how much they drink. If you feel like you need it, then you may be addicted. I’ve known people who don’t drink but once every couple of weeks, but they’re still alcoholics because once they touch the first one, they can’t stop until they pass out..
any person that has to have even one drink each day is classified an alcoholic. it doesn’t matter that they function well on the job or at home. usually the person is in denial.
MK is right, if when you start drinking, and drink more than you intended, or cant stop after a few drinks, you are one of us. This is why recovering alcoholics dont drink at all!!!
So drink a few drinks and try to stop abruptly, it will not take long for you to find out.
You can drink once a week, or once a year, but if when you drink and you cant stop, the “A” word may apply.
And you can’t consider anyone and alcoholic, they (the drinker) is the only person who can call himself an alky when he or she is ready.

Enough to make a person ask on yahoo answers “How many drinks a night/day would you consider someone to be a alcoholic?”
