thanks chevrolet…
wow jose… wow
I don’t see the point in going to AA meetings when most of the 12 steps include putting all faith in a god when I’m not a believer in any religion nor really believe in a god of any sort

Go to meetings every day-get one on one counseling at least once a week-have a sponser-determine and avoid your triggers-stay away from places and events where people are liable to be drinking.

Best of luck to you.

Ok drink lots of water 30 min before you drink n i mean drink like crazy some tequila drink until you vomit n den take some more shots and den in the morning you’ll have a nasty hangover but you drank so much that your body doesn’t want you to drink alcohol any more every time you try to drink you’ll spit it out how bad it taste thats what happened to me i use to be an alcoholic and now im sober.

Just try to live in the moment. Distract yourself – garden, chop wood, walk. Try to accept things and yourself. Try not to analyse things too much. I went to AA too and got some good things out of it, but I found it far too structured and some of the people !! It isn’t meant to be a religious group, it’s just that it gets taken over by certain cliches.
Oh and don’t look for answers on this site – really, they are not helpful- many are rude, sarcastic, cruel. Talk to a counsellor one on one at least once a week if that is what you feel you need. I am sorry that I can’t help you more. Good luck in your recovery.

You’re right. You don’t need AA meetings.

To my mind (I’ve been sober 11 years) your best bet is to spend your time doing things that don’t involve drinking. It will seem weird at first, and you might even need to force yourself, but you will soon get used to it. At this point I have such a busy life I don’t know how I ever found time to drink. And, life is SO MUCH BETTER without the booze!

Some people do find that after they’ve quit drinking, issues from the past come up to bite them in the butt. If this happens to you, get some therapy from a professional.
