Question by sugar.spyce: What kind of alcoholic beverages go well with the following dishes?
For example: red wine complements steak, i know that.
Likewise what kind of alcoholic beverages go well with the following (cooked in different ways)?

Fish & Seafood
Red meats
Chicken
Pasta dishes
Salads
+ add more if you wish.

I am no alcoholic, but occasionally when I go to a nice I do want to order something that goes well with the main dish…
Also, I love mixed drinks. Martinis, bellinis, mojito, etc…

Red wine is good for all of them. You can go for white as well with fish and the salads.

fish and seafood is usually a white wine. Sauvingnon blanc is a little fruity and offsets the fishiness.

Red meat is great with Petit Sirah

Chicken back to the white wine, Chardonnay

Pasta, depends on either white or red sauce. My opinion is that the reds are better with the reds and the cream sauces are better with whites.

Salads… depends on the type of salad

When you are eating something really salty… it can be good to have hard liquor mixes that way you don’t notice the harshness of the liquor so much.

usually with any meal i’d say any beer or any wine.

There is a wine or beer for all those; not so much distilled.

Fish & Seafood – White Wine or Light Ale
Red meats – Red Wine or Dark Beer
Chicken – White Wine or Light Beer
Pasta dishes – Dry Red Wine
    Salads – Dry White Wine
    Meatload/Shepard’s Pie – Dark Beer

You can ask the waiter to recommend a good house wine that goes with the dish that you order. I do that usually.

Otherwise, this is how I prefer my drinks,

Fish & Seafood – vodka + lime juice , rum + pineapple juice etc and light beer.

    Red meats – no idea.

Chicken (and Turkey) – Any kind of wine

Pasta dishes – most red, white, blush wines fit in perfectly with italian cuisines

Salads – glass of water or iced tea

+ add more if you wish.

Chinese – dry white wine or green tea

German Riesling fits perfectly with spicy cuisines like Thai, Indian etc

Mexican – margaritas, pina coladas, mojitos. My favourite is strawberry daiquiri.
