if they don’t want to give up the old crowd, then they’re not going to quit.
Plain and simple and true.

Wow. You are really obsessed with this topic. If YOU are the family member, you have to let it go. You can’t force them to do anything.
If you are the addict, grow up and do the right thing.
If the user is not willing to leave the old crowd behind, they are not ready for rehab. Family members must practice tough love and discontinue any efforts to rescue the user. Until the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change, nothing will change. Show me your friends, I’ll show you your future. Family members can get a lot of help and support by joining Al-Anon. A good resource is a book called, Co-dependant No More.
The best thing you can do is pray about it, I don’t know if your a Christan or not, but if this person wants help they would be open to anything and the best thing for anyone is a healthy relationship with God. If people really care about this person just try and tell him/her how concerned you are about him/her, there’s a show about this on A&E maybe going to their website might have more information about places to go and such.
You will need all the help you can get.
I have seen Meth addicts, it is so hard for them to quit.
I think it would be impossible to quit and still hang out with the “old crowd” the one that I know quit, had to find a new crowd. If you have any religious background, try to use it.
The family can help, but it is up to the person, they have to be super dedicated to have a chance, if they start to waver they most likely will fail quickly.
Make sure the family gets Al anon training, not sure about the spelling on that, it is like AA for narcotic users.
Not trying to shove religion to much, but I think a belief in God and building a faith could help a lot.
Good Luck, and God bless you and your family!
If they do not want to give up the old crowd, there is little you can do. Meth is highly addictive. If they stay around the old crowd they remain exposed to their addiction. It will result in a downward spiral of health problems, criminal activities to support the habit, and eventually prison time. I have a son who got caught up in that trap. Every time he got out of jail, he went back to his crowd. He is now serving time in state prison until 2012. My condolences.
