people use several things to cover pain in their lives, and yes they are aware in can kill them but that doesn’t matter, addiction is very powerful and not all cities.towns have affordable programs to help people become clean, jail is not a place for addicts.

well, seeing as how i live in the city in the us that is #1 for meth use (St. Louis) i think i can answer this.

people that have hard lives get depressed and dont knwo what to do with themselves.
so they will try any way they can think of to make themselves happy, even if its for a little bit, and sadly, most of them turn to drugs for artificial happiness.

also, people get involved in the wrong crou, especially in the city, and are pressured to do things they normally wouldnt do.
even if they know the side effects, no one thinks that they will end up like that.
but they do, it takes over theri lives, and by the time they WANT to quit, its too late.

People are dumb by nature and do all sorts of things that are bad for them. Meth is just another example, but one that has particularly bad side effects. As far as punishment for repeat offenders, I think the effects on the body are enough punishment if they can’t get the picture. Your teeth rotting out, your skin developing open sores, and aging decades over the course of 3 or 4 years is pretty bad. Ultimately, if they don’t figure it out, they die. Culling the herd I call it. It’s very sad, but no amount of legislation will prevent it. Short of locking them up indefinitely, there’s not much that can be done. Society has all sorts of treatment programs for them, but if they don’t truly want to quit they’ll be back on the pipe in no time. Best bet is to hammer the ones that cook it.

I would like to know myself. I saw a picyure of a women who did it for about twelve years. She looked like she was hit by a truck. A kid I know (I don’t talk to him) does it and, even seems embarrssed by it. He just turned nineteen and is showing signs of aging.

They think it makes them better than they were before. There is no way to help them. They have to want off the drugs them self. The problem is our drug programs is give them one drug to get off another drug. It’s a drug for a drug.
