Question by confused: I am a drug addict . Should I go to a rehab in my city or one in a different city?
I have tried rehab before and stayed clean but always relapsed , my circle of friends/acquaintances know me as a user , I want to start over and I am 34. Crystal meth is my drug of choice.

You should move, make a clean start. Otherwise your past will always be in front of your eyes threatening to drag you back.
Whether you go to rehab in or out of state, you should probably move out of state for your health and break your circular pattern.
I would go to another city that way you are not surrounded by the same influences as before and maybe you can have a fresh start in a New City.

doesn’t matter as long as you go. try making friends with other people, the ones you have now will only lure you back into a bad habit you are trying to quit. good luck, i hope you kick it.
go to another rehab if it helps..and change your circle of friends….i wish you all the streanth to stay clean of the poison….i admire your courage for admitting what you do as well…stay strong

I don’t think it really matters where you go- the important thing is to go and give it your all. Meth is a hard drug to kick and from what I understand – few people get off of it on the first few tries. It isn’t uncommon to go through rehab several times. The only reason I can think of to go through rehab in a different city would be if you think it would increase your chances of success. Can you talk it over with the counselors. Good Luck.

i dint know but we say you have to try , and keep trying what else can you do now , but not give up* give up you lost, trying is on going .

if you go to one in a different city,they are more apt to keep an eye on you, also you wont have the connections to drug dealers, i mean, yes you could find some no matter where you go…but if you pick an out of town area, that is rather secluded, you should increase your chances of getting off drugs. also, sadly the people who know you as a user,as i found out when i quit doing drugs, who call themselves friends, as soon as you clean up, will want nothing to do with you, and theyre not worth trying to be friends with. You will be able to establish new relationships with people who care more for you than what you might be able to give them. Good luck.

I don’t think it really matters where you decide to get sober, just do it. I have 2 years off the shit as of 11/27, and stayed in the same town I got started in doing the damn stuff.
What you need to do is get yourself a sponsor, or someone you can confide in, start going to meetings, and take it from there.
If the people places and things are really bothering you that much, then by all means move, but what is gonna make a trip out of state any different? You will find those same people places and things in the next town too.

Come to Phoenix, we have ALOT of sobriety and many meetings, and several good rehab facilities here.
You should move. But only if you are really certain that this is something you want to do otherwise you will just relapse again
good luck but it doesn’t matter where you go you have to make up in your mind that enough is enough and staying clean is your goal and crystal meth is a drug that destroy lives and you need a strong support group that looks to you as a winner and not a user
here’s what i got i quit weed for a month now Exocet i got no friends i was on it for 30yr now i am depresseda lot but, ok i just stay on my pc a lot i am going to colledge u can to learn to yype and got three dogs smart ass on both sides who got speed dial on cops u know thier was a man who thought he had it bad untill who didn not have any arms untill he met a man who did not have any legs, now listen to mikey i been thier even u drug but listen u do what the first man says the give u life to god thats the only way to stay clean start a new life and forget the old not worth remberin any way right go to church fint a non denom. or something close then in a few yr after u graguate fr colladge help some one else cause im old n weary u might be the last one i help now u can adfd me as a friend ok mikey
Usually a treatment center followed by an out of town halfway house is the best.They will monitor who you call and stay in touch with.If it’s inpatient treatment then it doesn’t matter if it’s in your town or not.However after you are done it is so important to follow up w/ a halfway house.They keep you strong.It’s just too much of a temptation to be in the same town w/ ex dealers and friends.Some would say you are just escaping from your troubles if you leave town , but they don’t know what it’s like to try to kick this drug.And they don’t know how relentless these dope fiends from our past can be . They never let you go.So you have to be the one to leave.I had to become a truck driver so I would never be home, and I can’t use on the road.Or else for me I just couldn’t escape from those old habits.Good luck.Also it is not true that once you get clean your old using friend will want nothing to do w/ you.
i moved and relapsed on ice after a full year of rehab, try going to cenacor…they will be the best choice for relapsers
It depends on various factors of course. I would recommend that you do it in your city. The reason you wish to do it in another city is to avoid being ‘seen’. Own up to it. Solicit help from friends, family, and coworkers. You chances of getting clean and staying that way will be far better. Plus it will be easier for all the people that love you to visit!
