What made you speak out about an addiction?

Question by Beautifully Broken [Left school]: What made you speak out about an addiction?
I’m addicted to cutting [I'm slowing down] and I’d gone on this trip with youth club and someone made a horrible comment about cutting in general. This was septemeber last year. A month later and it was still really getting to me so I told someone about it, since then I’ve been getting counseling. People that have/had an addiction, what made you speak out about it?

I’ve speaking out about it, since december of 2007 when I finally walked into a N/A meeting and have been going since.

I knew I was an addict for a long time, yet I never really said it out loud.

I spoke up about it, because it helped me out with my program, I couldn’t do it on my own, I now feel comfortable about speaking about it, because it’s a disease.

I hope you get the help you need and stick with it.

I’m an addict and always will be, not to cutting but to many other things.

Addicts come in all colors, sizes, and so many addiction.

I did RX’s yet, I can be addicted to the computer this week and next I can be to something else.

I just try to be addicted to other things and not my pills.

Good Luck sweets.

I am in recovery for alcohol and drugs. They reason I speak about my addiction is to make sure I don’t relapse-my sponsor taught me I can only keep what I am willing to give away. I try daily to offer up what I have done with the help of my sponsor and Higher Power to stay clean IN hopes that someone else starts to feel that they too can do it. I would be willing to have you read my profile and email me to chat about addictions God Bless Reggie
