Question by Trinity: How do I help this person?
I am very worried about someone close to me. Before I knew them they were a tweaker for about three years, he told me he used meth. Once they quit meth, and ever since then he has alcohol problems, he is an alcoholic. Also, he takes ecstasy probably about three times a month. He has had a real hard life and he uses to make time go by faster, he uses because he has a lot of emotional problems, there’s a a lot of pain hes holding inside. He wont go to counseling, there’s no way. I can stand back and watch him practically kill himself. I really love him. What do I do?

maybe you should just try talking to him… probably all he needs is someone to listen.. good luck

You can still love the guy, but I would not waste your time saving him because you can’t. He is toast.
Wow, that’s a tough one. I can speak to this because I have known people with similar issues. Really, if someone doesn’t want to help themselves, there is sadly little you can do other than really express sincerely to this person your concern and that you’re there to support them. At the same time, you don’t want to be an enabler, so keep your distance. Easier said than done, I know. Maybe there’s a support group the two of you can go to together…

You should tell an adult. Like, call the police or something. He might be mad for a little while, but he’ll understand you were trying to help him. I hope you the best. (:
nothing. just like you said, “there’s no way” you can help a person who does not want help. maybe you should relax a bit, stay away from him for awhile, and see if he gets lonely; sometimes people are ashamed to accept help, because by doing so, they are accepting their helplessness, and no human being want to feel helpless; or you can just sit back and relax, and watch him slowly kill himself, believe me, it’ll be more fun.
