Question by Jane is a terrific mommy!: Is it okay to drink a little bit during the pregnancy?
HI YALL! I’M THE PROUD MOMMY OF THREE BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN WHOM I LOVE AND I GOT ANOTHER ONE ON THE WAY. I DRANK DURING ALL THREE OF MY PREGNANCYS AND MY CHILDREN CAME OUT FINE. I ONLY HAD THE OCCASIONAL DRINK OF WINE WITH MY HUSBAND. MY STEP MOTHER (HIS MOM) SAID IT WOULD BE OKAY, AS SHE DRANK WITH HER PREGNANCY. RECENTLY I HEARD ON THE NEWS THAT DRINKING HEAVY ALCOHOL COULD BE BAD FOR THE BABY. SO, IF THE OCCASSIONAL GLASS OF WINE IS ALRIGHT, HOW COME HEAVY LIQUOR SUCH AS GIN ON OCCASSION IS NOT?

drinking is NOT good for the baby, not any small amounts, AT ALL. It can have very negative consequences… and if you can’t withhold from consuming alcohol for only 9 month, then you’re a selfish b***.

y ou know back in the 70s and 60s it was common to drink a glass of wine and/or have an occational cigerette. i think as long as it is a glass of wine and only every-now-and-again, you and your baby will be ok.

** Slaps your head ** Are you stupid?????….Thats a big HELL NO!!…Dont drink, even if its just a little slip. Don’t EVER drink while your pregnant. That will cause really bad efficets to your baby. It can cause Health Probloms and other things. Dont do it.

Listen to your doctor and just drink lot of water. Juice is ok. Soda…is ok sometimes, but not alot. A little soda wont do anything. But dont drink alot of it. And eat lots of fruits and veggs.

No amount of alcohol has been proven to be safe during pregnancy.
However, dr.s have not been able to PROVE that a standard drink per day is harmful – but why take the risk???

When I was pregnant I rationalised that whatever I drank, my daughter drank – and considering her weight and tolerance for alcohol, it was a a no brainer that the drinks should be kept to a minimum.

It’s 9mths of your life vs a life time for your off spring – you do the math.

My doctor told me that if you are a regular drinker before pregnancy and you don’t think you’ll be able to quit, just a little alcohol, like a glass of wine or a mixed drink [not loose, just like a standard pina colada] every once in a while is fine. No one has ever been able to prove that a small amount every once in a while can do damage. Baby has a lower tollerancy for alcohol, and it stays in it’s system longer, but my doctor said your baby becomes drunk when you just start to feel buzzed. She said if you aren’t getting buzzed, then it’s not as big a deal. The kids that come out with Alcohol Fetal Syndrom are the kids who’s parents binge drank [5+ drinks in one night] all the time, or drank AND did drugs during pregnancy. ANyway that’s what my doctor said. She said that cutting down reduces the risk of AFS, and that any alcohol consumtion poses a risk of harm, but with every drink you have less than you did before, you’re cutting your child’s risk greatly.
So basically it’s better to be safe than sorry, but if you’re going to drink, only drink like wine or whatever. Because say Tequila or Vodka or whatever are always higher proof than wine. A glass of wine every now and then is way better than shots of tequila,I’m sure.

The occasional glass of wine isn’t alright either. I’m sure it’s easier on the baby than heavy liquor but it’s not okay.

As a mother of three, you should know better.

dont listen to them,, alto i refuse to drink while im pregnant does not mean i am against it, heavy drinking yes, but my doctor said half a glass of wine every few days doesnt hurt, red wine is suppose to be good for your heart so i dont see how it could hurt, as long as your not drinking to get drunk and only having a glass hear and there i dont see the harm,
