Question by summertime: I want to know why drugs, like marijuana, is illegal when drinking kills so many each year?
I’m wondering why marijuana is illegal when alcohol, which kills SO many people each year, not only from poisoning, but mostly drinking and driving, is still legal. Just listen: every other day on the news you hear of a victim being killed in a drinking and driving incident. True? INNOCENT PEOPLE. I never hear of any ‘drugs under the influence’ incidences. Sure, there MUST be some drug accidents, but drinking and driving is so much more common. It really puzzles me. To what extent will it hit home?
I’m just wondering and in no way am i justifying pot. I want to know what other people think.

It’s a good question, but on the other side of it almost 79% of crimes commited in the United States, including rape, murder, robbery, etc are commited under the influence of drugs or alcohol not necessarily marijuana though. But there is a larger stigma that is associated with pot than with alcohol, your grandparents drink alcohol and so did their parents you didn’t see them puffing up because it was never a respectable thing to do. It all comes down to the stigma of weed.
What do you think? Answer below!

because drinking is too much a part of our culture. they tried prohibition back in the 20′s. it just created the mafia.
Scruffy said it all!
Anyhoo, I am very pleased that marijuana is illegal as it only serves to make people stupid
In a nut shell? Funding.
The tobacco and alcohol industries make ‘contributions’ to governments. Outlawing tobacco and alcohol means losing that revenue, so governments use other means of ‘punishing’ those companies (and keeping the cash flow).
(Of course, the same could be said about other groups trying to influence governments. It’s not a ‘simple’ matter, and everyone wants to make themselves heard.)
i understand completely.
because the government is retarded..there has not been one single reported case of someone dying from smoking pot. look at alcohol and tobacco..
cannabis is illegal simply because the government cannot get a grasp on it to sell it them selfs and make a profit.
if the government carnt have it no one can!!!
it’s all the fault of the Mexicans, anhueser busch and dupont
back in the day marijuana was legal in the US but then we had all these problems with illegals and some fool in government decided that if we got made it illegal here then the Mexicans would go back to Mexico also all those overpaid stuffed shirt beer executives saw it cutting into their profits and said hey we gots to do something about this and the dorks over @ dupont knew that hemp was stronger than any synthetic material that they could produce oh and yeah the “legal” drug companies would suffer too because if herbal medicine and natural cures were to be discovered they wouldn’t be able to jet set all over the world with the profits they make from their stupid drugs that the FDA approved after getting paid a big bonus to approve so basically it all has to deal with money not sense.
