Evidence shows that the number of people that are binge drinking in the UK has fallen, but why is this? New laws or taxes?

Drinking goes down when drugs go up.
More drugs, cheaper drugs, easier to access (nobody cards you).

More taxes = more pressure = more escapism via alcohol/drugs. People will get high/drunk to cope, even if it means letting necessities go (food, debt payment, etc.).

Neither laws or taxes. Probably because people are finding more interesting things to do. Culture is changing, and drinking as entertainment is falling.

As the first “Barney” generation ages, their attitudes toward drinking, social status, and general savvy about social standing and “corporate standards” are beginning to change the “need” to drink. Most of the older generations drank to decrease inhibitions.

Most Brits and Americans aren’t as pent up as they used to be, and don’t need drugs and drink to have fun or laugh out loud any more.

People realize that people are people with embarrassments and additions, and when someone is falling down drunk, saying embarrassing, inappropriate things, and peeing their pants, well people don’t think this is funny any more.

I think now that people realize the seriousness of severe drunkeness, drinking in social situations, especially for young people, isn’t cool any more.
