Question by DancerChic: What would an alcoholic drink to get drunk?
I’m writing a short story for a creative writing class at school. In my story, the main character is a depressed alcoholic. I’ve only ever had one sip of wine so I know nothing about alcoholic beverages. My question is what would someone drink to get drunk who has a high tolerance level?

Well, obviously they’ll drink liquor. I mean specifically like what kind.

I liked the first response – “liquor”….LOL….made me laugh. Yep, he/she pretty much hit the nail on the head; if you wanna’ get drunk….drink some booze!! (preferably hard alcohol like vodka or whiskey – 2 of my favorites).
Anything they can get their hands on / afford, the stronger the better (in their eyes)
Pesonally my poison was Vodka. When I was younger Wild Turkey was my favorite (the 101 proof). As I got older tho, the dark liquor caused more serious discomfort the next day. Each person has their favorite, if a choice is available. But an alcoholic wanting a drink will take whatever is available. Normally, the higher the alcohol content (the proof), the better. (Since you say you know nothing here is some extemporaneous information for you. The proof is equal to the percentage (%) of alcohol by content, multiplied by 2. So, for example, 80 proof vodka would be 40% alcohol.)
Alcoholics will pretty much drink anything, just decide on a favorite that fits the character you are creating. For a business type, scotch maybe. Blue collar, maybe beer & shots of tequila. In my past experience as a bartender I’ve noticed that a lot of women drink vodka because the odor is not as noticeable as say whiskey.
Cheap wine or vodka. (Cheap wine being thunderbird or wild irish rose, anything with a screw top bottle cap). Vodka because thats what alot of alcoholics I know drink. And they will drink 100 proof (50 percent alcohol) drinks like we drink water.

is he middle class? – crown royal or maybe a beer he brewed him self
is he a she? pick any vodka drink or wine
