Question by pineapple15_16: How can you have a dangerous alcoholic and drug addict committed involuntarily?
My father is an alcoholic and a drug addict who is dangerous. He is abusive and is a danger to himself and all around him. He refuses to admit that he has a problem and thinks he doesn’t need help and threatens to take others lives. We have tried to get the police to arrest him and they won’t because they say they have no proof. Can I have him committed to a mental health facility or rehab involuntarily? Someone please help!

Call your local mental hospital or mental health service provider. They usual have evaluators that they will send to your house to interview the person. Make sure they take you seriously. They must help you! Take threats seriously…I didnt…and I lost my mother. God bless you.

If you do that he can just sign himself out the best way is when he know he has hit rock bottom and what I would do it get family memeber and yourself to write letters sayin how you feel about it and see if he would just commit himself to get the help that he needs
Yes, you can take him to a drug rehab by saying to him it’s just a trip or so on. Since, drug addiction should be resolved as soon as possible or it may become fatal to him and others. If you need a perfect rehab center, you can make use of… http://abttc.net/
