Question by Mel: I’m 6 weeks pregnant. I had been doing oxycodone, will my baby have problems or have withdraws if i stop now?
I hadn’t been doing that many but I know narcotics are very dangerous when your pregnant and your baby can become addicted and have withdraws but I have stopped doing them but I just hope it is soon enough that my baby wont have any issues because of it. Please let me know any information you have regarding this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Melissa.

you should probably ask a doctor, obviously not YOUR doctor, but maybe one of those walk in clinics, use a fake name and stuff just to be safe…

Ask a doctor. But im pretty sure you and your baby will be fine. How old are you anyways?

Baby will be fine, as long as you stop now.

Any drugs that you use during the first few weeks of pregnancy will have an impact. Not necessarily a permanent impact, but an impact nonetheless, remember, the first 12 weeks of pregnancy are critical.
However, if you stopped as soon as you found out you were pregnant, everything should be fine, but if you are still concerned, go to a doctors and just ask.

I didn’t have the problem with oxycodone, but before I knew I was pregnant I was smoking a pack a day, a blunt every few hours, and drinking a lot on the weekends.
I was worried and told my nurse and she put it this way:
There’s no use crying over spilt milk.
The best thing you can do now is to stop. You’re early enough that the chances of your baby being addicted are pretty slim, so stop now and just be as healthy as you can from here on out.
There are women everywhere that do drugs before they know they are pregnant who have healthy babies.
Hell, there are women who do crack through their whole pregnancies and have babies that grow up healthy.
What about all the women on prescription drugs?
You can’t worry about what happened before you knew, just move forward.

At 6 weeks, your baby should be fine. Oxycodone is nothing but percocet. In fact, percocet has been given to pregnant women for pain, and it’s also given to women who have a c-section, even ones who are breastfeeding and it doesn’t affect the baby. Still, it’s good to stop and make sure you tell your doctor about all your drug use prior to finding out you’re pregnant.
