My family needs to understand alcoholism and depression? Do you have any good book recommendations? Please do not tell me to google alcoholism or check out the AA book or the bible. Thanks

I think that Yoga for Depression is a heartfelt, compassionate book, that helped me quite a bit battling depression and an addiction I had to speed. It really worked wonders for me. It is written by Amy Weintrieb, I think. Google it. Good luck to you.

What do you think? Answer below!

I don’t really know any books but I know that I can help you understand depression. here is a site that I have read over containing 10 E-Book’s that will help you understand depression and deal with it. http://depression.about.com/od/generalinfo/tp/ebooks.htm Try number 7. “How to heal depression” first. However for alcoholism I am of no help….my uncles an alcoholic so I have studied somethings about it, but I don’t know much.

There is a paperback book titled “Under the Influence: A Guide to the Myths and Realities of Alcoholism”, by James Robert Milam and Katherine Ketcham. You should be able to get it in any bookstore. It is an excellent book on alcoholism, and also talks about depression and other causes, effects and results of alcoholism.
