Question by Say What: How much binge drinking is too much?
Hi all,
Just wondering if i binge drink once every 3 weeks, or around there. Does that give my liver enough time to recover? And is it a full recovery or will it still be damaged. Thanx for all ur help

Actually, any binge drinking is unsafe. There is a high risk of alcohol poisoning, not to mention the potential danger you can pose to yourself and others when you are under the influence.

Well the strict definition of binge drinking is to drink with the intent of getting intoxicated.
That’s a bit harsh I think because I do that at least twice a week and I’m still doing fine!
I personally believe when you blackout when you drink – you should re-examine your habits, but that’s me.
It’s going to be damaged regardless, and in this case, “recovery” is not really an issue if you’re just to do it again. Maybe give your liver a break? Enjoy a long and healthy life and just drink in moderation…

You’ll have to define binge drinking a little more clearly… If your only concern is liver damage – more than 4 units in a day will cause scarring (cirrhosis). That never heals. So taking a break between binges lengthens the amount of time you live by reducing the frequency of your binges, but is no better than binging 3 weeks in a row and then going 6 weeks without.
