Question by MarkG: Now that the FDA has banned Caffeine & Alcohol premixed drinks,?
Does that mean we should no longer drink “Rum & Coke” unless its made with caffeine free Coke?
For that matter what about those mixed drinks which use Red Bull?
Should Bar’s be prevented from serving coffee to patrons who have consumed alcohol?
Instead of an outright ban, should the FDA required a warning label on the can instead, just like what is on a pack of cigarettes…
So how come cigarettes aren’t banned now….
Is this another example of heavy handed government not thinking through the issue and blindly imposing its will ?

The drinks were the equivalent of 3 beers and 2 cups of coffee. Tell me that isn’t a recipe for disaster.

It is very silly. If pre-mixed caffeine and alcohol is bad, why isn’t post-mixed alcohol and caffeine bad?
Their are warning labels on the can. The truth is, the FDA is responding to incidents that have to do with overconsumption of these drinks, sometimes by minors, and because they don’t have a good reason to ban them they make one up.
Cigarettes definitely should be banned by whatever means are most effective; self-control, government control, any type of stoppage should be considered. Lungs were not designed in the 2.5 million years it took to create the human organism to be what it is.. Lungs survive best when provided with good clean air, consisting mostly of nitrogen and oxygen. Any other substances put into the lungs are to be considered alien and kaput. Cigarettes are a blight on human well being.
In my opinion there are a lot more than the FDA can place a ban on such as costmetics and foods that are sold which contain propylene glycol and other carcenoginics. However a person should have the right to choose what they want to put into their bodies even if they choose the wrong things. Even God gives us choices. On another note, people usually ignore label warnings if they really want the product.
The question you have to ask is, why did alcohol prohibition require a Constitutional Amendment but the prohibition of these drinks is accomplished with only the stroke of a bureaucratic pen?
But, to answer your question, I think this is just “busy work” so they don’t have to spend time on the really serious issues that they are incompetent to handle.
the last line says all one needs to know. whatever happened to “consent of the governed” besides who in the hell listens to the FDA any how.
