Question by breezzstar: does anyone have first hand experience with someone using meth?
I just found out my husband is using meth. im leaving this weekend with my kids. does anyone have any suggestions on how to encourage him to go into rehab? ill have emergency custody but im afraid my kids may eventually have unspuervised visits with him. it is so scary. but for now my kids and i will be away from him and safe from his violent mood swings and the drugs in his garage office.

keep ur kids away from himtil hes clean
if he makes it it can blwo up your house
meth can change his personality and make him violent

call the cops and they will force him to rehab
its the best thing for you and your children

Meth is tough to beat. Here is an interesting fact for you: sex and chocolate can raise your dopamine levels to 100. Cocaine to 250. Meth raises dopamine levels to 1200. There is nothing else in this world that raises dopamine levels that high. It is one of the reasons why it is so hard to quit. Hopefully by leaving your husband it will point him in the right direction towards rehab. He has to want to get help for himself.

If you notify the courts of his drug use, he will NOT have unsupervised visits, until he can prove he is drug free, that means rehab, drug testing, the whole nine yards.
You have to inform the court for your children’s’ sake. In my experience, (which is firsthand). people that get into meth NEVER get over it, ever. I am sorry.
we know a child that has supervised visits only with his mom because of meth. she will have to give a clean hair follicle sample before the court will accept a petition from her to modify visitation. maybe you could ask the judge for something like this as a safety measure, that way you know he is really clean. to get him to go to rehab is tuff. maybe a family intervention after the kids are safely away from him. research rehabs that he can go to and make it as easy as possible for him to get to help. being on meth can mess up the thinking so bad that trying to get help for yourself seems impossible. let the kids know that dad has a drug problem and that it is not their fault.
