Q&A: Is it possible to restore my health from episodes of binge drinking at my age?

Question by Humble.: Is it possible to restore my health from episodes of binge drinking at my age?
If I take control now at the age of 23 and stop drinking alchohol the way I do, do you think my body can restore itself? I do not drink everyday at all, but probably twice a week and if I drink beer I will have like 6 and if I drink wine I have alot, several tall glasses. I don’t know why I do this and I actually can’t stand it about myself, so I am really going to try and tackle this head on…..any suggestions and or ideas?

If you want to restore your health quit drinking all together just like i did, that means don’t drink at all nothing.

Idk im a a girl, also 23 and my liver probably looks like a amusement park. I party ALOT. Honestly the best way would be to stop.. The liver is the only organ that can heal itself but it takes a while. And not to mention what it does to the kidneys and heart and such. Ironicly ive got health anxiety so its even worse 4 me. What you should do would be to go on a detox and get rid of the chemicals or at the very least half a glass lemon juice (diluted with water) drink it every morning will help clear you out some.

Agree with Kelvin about stopping the drinking all together. You should just go to one AA meeting if you need support. If you have done damage to your liver, you should be taking milk thistle extract to help repair it.

Some factories have a sign on the wall: “It has been X days since our last accident.”
You should make your own sign at home to see how long you can go without a drink.

How bad do you really want to take control?

get serious liver damage when you get older that does not repair itself.

to answer you title question – yes.

fortunately the liver is a wonderful organ and can restore itself if you stop abusing it.

whilst i do not entirely agree with giving up drinking altogether i think you need to control it and be aware of the damage that long term drinking can cause.

i did quite a bit of damage to my liver at one time from excessive drinking which was reflected in blood tests known as LFT (liver function test) but took stock of myself and now even though i drink on a sort of regular basis, like daily do it in very small amounts and then mix my wine with soda water – like 50/50. after a serious illness when i had not been able to even tolerate alcohol for some 6 weeks my LFT results were so amazing that even my doctor wondered if they were correct.

if you feel you cannot control your drinking or discipline yourself to just having a drink now and again without binge drinking then you may need to think about going to AA where you will find a lot of other people in the same situation and you will get great support from them.

    good luck
