Question by hccc1000: Addicted to Ultram (Tramadol) how do I stop Tamadol?
I.ve been on Tramadol for 1 year for accident pain & accident has healed but I cannot get off Tramadol as I go through painfull physical withdraw! Side effect I have sometimes are a headache once in two weeks!
What do I do I tried cutting back to two and then one without success!
Thank you for taking your most valuable time to answer my question as I’m a American working in SE Asia (U.S. Govt.) (Philippines) from Delaware
All drugs including narcotics are sold over the counter without a doctors prescription here like in Africa and India where I also worked and most but not all of the Docs here are awful and could not practice in the U.S.!
Thanx again

The best thing to do is quit cold turkey. Go through the withdraw symptoms… maybe even have a friend stay with you to make sure that you don’t take it. At first, it’s going to be hard, but after a little bit, you won’t even think about touching it again.

You need to try to “wean” yourself off of them. If you have a trusted friend who will help you, give them the pill bottle so they can give you your pills daily…that way you are not tempted to over-take them. You may still have a little withdrawl but it should only last up to a week. The physical addiction shouldn’t last too long, it is the psychological addiction is one that will last longer.
