AA is a faith healing cult. Do yourself a favor and Google SMARTRecovery or SOS instead.

OK I love this video. Can we talk. I am making a Documentary about exposing all the crap going on in AA. makeaasafer@gmail.com I think video needs to go viral I hope it does. I posted it on my facebook and I will twitter it. I was in AA for over 3 decades but left in the spring. I so agree with you. Much needs to change.

Great video, but a slight correction: SOS is not only nationwide, but worldwide. Though it doesn’t boast the same number of meetings as the 12-step programs, it does have groups of all sizes around the globe that meet on a regular basis.

S o I just spent two weeks with a bunch of strangers, at least half of which had substance abuse problems and all of them went on and on about God, to the point where I had to talk to the trainers to get them to understand that when they go out into the community and work with clients (in the mental health field) they wouldn’t be able to do that. I don’t think that anyone got the message really. I KNOW that one woman didn’t because she kept trying to convert me.

@IEntertainers Yes, I noticed that. That link was given to me by a friend who has been through one of the programs. It’s important for each individual to find treatment that works for them, so I thought it wise to include a larger list, even if not every group on it is necessarily the best. I don’t endorse any of the treatment programs, as I’ve never been through any of them, but I can say that SOS and Rational Recovery have come highly recommended.

You know what sucks? The website you posted says that the secular facilities “do not work by themselves for addicts and alcoholics because they do not fully address all the facets of the illness of addiction” the religious treatment facilities seem to be desperate to discredit secular treatment. That is pretty sad.
