Well, if you went into a mental facility that treats people with co-occurring disorders and basic detox, you may stay as little as 3 – 10 days (these aren’t the best options for people seeking thorough rehab). If you go to a detox only facility you could be staying 5 – 10 days. If you are involuntary committed to a true mental hospital you could be stay 5 – 30 days (up to 90 days if you have co-occurring disorders like Bipolar type 1 or schizophrenia). If you go to a rehab only place, protocol is 28 – 90 days. Usually aftercare treatment in the form of a 4 – 6 week out patient program or half way house follows.
