a simple yes or no won’t cut it, i want scriptures explaining that it’s a sin before i’ll even consider it a sin
vr6 or whatever , no that ain’t anywhere near good enough for me, i’m not typing about ciggy’s here i’m on about blazing bud

weed, that has been medically proven not to be as harmful as drinking alcohol, your verse holistically covers a few bases but nothing directly

otherwise thout shalt not murder would do you plonker !
cassandra get in touch with the real world love, i’m a ”drug addict” i smoke weed everyday and i work to provide for me and mine and i will have a few smokes through the day to take the edge of, i’m not evil nor one track minded, i have a responsible job where others are accountable to me and on me , so don’t be so gulable to think someones vice means they’re evil
cassandra need to stop judging as she is seriously out of line !
indeces catholics put a man before god and have the nerve to call him god’s appointed man

i ain’t even starting on the casholics today
john in the cowboy hat … i recycle and don’t drive to work anymore so i feel my carbon footprint is smaller than many others

and as soon as we are born the clock is ticking on us, so in effect we are all dying, because none of us are getting any younger
brandon weed has many many medical properties to it aswel just google it and you’ll scratch your head, weed and garlic are said to be super medicines by some leading studies at oxford and in the states
frizby if i’m gonna lose my temper with someone i’ll either get hurt or they will, if i have a smoke my temper subsides greatly and happiness shows it’s self again, so i don’t hurt that other person, so is this to be classed as self sacrifice ? do you see the game that unfolds when you play god ?
edges thank you for the history lesson but next time answer the question at hand …maybe ?
truth is…. well i can’t argue with that smoking is a stinky habbit but i don’t smoke ciggys i only smoke ganja and the smell from the bud is actually something that i am addicted to along with the taste, but i agree with you
vr63 are the dinosaur bones put under ground by god aswell ? just to test your faith ? where is the scriptures you plank ? ,,,,i could say the bible is god’s true curse and show the struggle and lives it’s cost in war as proof but i understand it would silly, shame you don’t realise silliness when you say silly things ;)
edges furmented wine is what they used to drink … furmented wine (strong wine) and read what your man jesus did at cana and what was said of the wine he made
praxis i understand your logic and even though it would further my own stand point on the matter, i have to decline to agree with you, for the simple fact all the sins from the biblical times are still in common practise now, murder being the most drastic but most obvious and easiest to look at along with adultary and false worship, so sinful acts 2000+ years ago are still happening today so if smoking was a sin or drinking wine was a sin they would both be around today ..and they both are

i’m just being unbiest and fair is all squire
loosecanon yep i’m on about the green, my argument is with your passage in 2 corinthians if it were a case of keeping mind and spirit clean then what business did jesus have makling more wine for the already drunk people of cana and further more to claim it is a miracle of god ? and modern day professors have announced weed to be less harmful than alcohol physically and mentally (check link for evidence sir)
tom i care, coz if you can systematically proof something and yet have the bible say something else there is a problem there.
loose canon, even i consider it a sin to smoke ciggy’s when weed is so much more healthy

man made cancer sticks or natural growing weed, a child would know which is less harmful ,

i make blunts no baccy just two a night and i don’t drink (it is my birthday today and i will not drink but will smoke)

It causes cancer! It stinks! Go to your local hospital.
James 1:14-15
14But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
(KJV)

Is that good enough for you? If you’re talking about “weed” that is part of the curse God put on the Earth because of mans sin. If you like the curse so much go roll in some poison ivy! The fossils were put there when God flooded the entire world. You sure hate God. Don’t worry you’ll like hell, the Bible says the “smoke” of their torment accends up forever and ever. I’ll be in the non-smoking section with Jesus. You are ignorant on so many levels it’s like talking to a mule. I could show you all kinds of scripture but you have rejected the word of God and he will reject you if you do not repent.
John 3:19-20
19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
(KJV)

    who cares…

  2. Eric g says:

well your right, they did drink wine at the last supper, but it is forbidden in the new testament (it was ok back then but not anymore) so yes, both drinking and smoking is a sin. im not gonna lie, i smoke and i want to quit. i want to be saved but it is just so hard to quit.

  3. CassandraofTroy says:

A sin is a violation of one of the ten commandments. Smoking is not a sin. Drinking is not a sin. Secondhand smoke, being harmful to others MAY be a sin. Alcoholism is evil because it is so harmful to everyone. Alcoholics and drug addicts are sinners because they don’t care about anybody but their addiction. They are cruel, merciless and without pity. They are abusive. See the condition of their heart?

Well, technically speaking God put both tobacco and pot here on earth. The native american’s indulged in peyote before taking their vision quests and I really see nothing shameful about that. I am not sure what sort of mind opening thing they actually experience but who am I to judge. Perhaps God meant for his creations to experience natural things as they were given in moderation. By the way, I am Christian and do not smoke cigarettes OR pot but I think as I said before, most things in moderation are okay.

  5. M to the R Mighty RA says:

No, but the kind of people who would lecture you about sin are the kind of people who would ban smoking from their local pub even though they never, ever go there.

  6. Indeces says:

According to the Catholics it is.
I think it was the last Pope who said it was sinful.
It is, on the face of it, a slow form of suicide, and the Church does frown on that.
Scripturally, I think you’re out of luck, due to the time lag between the writing of the Bible, and Sir Walter Raleigh’s introduction of tobacco to the Old World. The Bible’s writers were good, but even they couldn’t have forseen the fashion of drinking smoke.

  7. Sniper says:

No!!! But if excessively till your health deteriorates, yes!!!

  8. Frizby says:

Its a sin to harm oneself, smoking can harm oneself, the question is does one know whether their habit of smoking is harming them..

  9. edges says:

The only drinking Jesus “participated in” was of wine, and in Bible times, wine wasn’t what we know of it as today.

It was just a very pure juice made from fruits, all non-alcoholic.

  10. brandon says:

well since you wont find smoking in the bible I think its best to look at the context.

When we smoke we are in deliberate harm of our bodies.
The same can be said for Alcohol but it also depends on what type of alcohol. There is alcohol that you can casually drink but there is alcohol that is designed to get you drunk (liquors, spirits, mixed drinks so on) God doesn’t have a problem with Alcohol as long as its in moderation. Alcohol has soothing qualities that can be relaxing without being intoxicating. This can be said for a myriad of other things, enjoyment without indulgence. So seeing as how smoking does more harm than it does good, it wouldn’t be wise to engage in it. Not saying its a sin, but it is unwise.

  11. John says:

I wish people didn’t kill themselves fast or slow and God is smarter than me. To not care about your health and the earth are negative.

  12. Truth is... says:

No. Smoking is not a sin and will not condemn you to hell.
It will just make you smell like you’ve already been there.

  13. Praxis says:

If either was truly a sin, we’d have given them up a long time ago.

  14. loosecanon says:

First off, What are we smoking? Cigs or drugs. Both are not good for the body. and Jesus does say that our bodies are God’s temple, and that we should keep it clean and holy, both in mind and spirit. 2 corinthians 6:16-18.

I too smoked weed for a while, then I started reading the Bible for answers, and found that verse. I quit smoking weed and Drinking, and I function just fine without it. I want to keep my body and mind clear. I do smoke cigs, and that is my really bad addiction for now. I am going to quit those too, I live for God and Jesus not for myself or others, except for through Them, and them through me.

  15. StandW2Fists says:

That’s subjective … natural tobacco doesn’t have as many health side affects as the chemicalized cigarettes (125-4000 different known and publicized chemicals). It’s not the healthiest thing for our bodies … but is the “cancer” damage : from tobacco … or the chemicals added to the tobacco …

Native american indians utilized tobacco as a form of spiritual fluctuation (peace pipe), during times of togetherness … they weren’t concerned about lung cancer … but being on a reservation … aren’t subjectable to political influence or taxes as theirs is a sovereign nation.

Some people still acquire lung cancer, though they’ve spent a lifetime without smoking … so is it genetic, nature, or supernatural?

There were instances of stage 4 lung cancer being cured with iv doses of vitamin c (and possibly some other medicinal guidance).

But smoking could be considered a vice … I don’t worry about it, I quit once smoking before, and I’ll quit again – when I feel like it … right now, I want the difference of being different than my Mother-in-Law.
