It depends on where you are, both what state and where in the state. bigger cities tend to go easier, smaller places tend to take it personally.
Where I am, he would probably do jail time with the option to do part of it in rehab.

Where I live, manufactuing meth means 2 years minimum. Also, rehab is not an option instead of doing prison time.
That would be VERY unlikely. A short jail term is almost 100% guaranteed. Rehab might be tacked onto the jail term, but it won’t replace it.
Running a meth lab is not a minor crime, it is serious drug dealing.
Since meth became something of an epidemic throughout many parts of the country, laws pertaining to meth, its distribution, use, and manufacture, changed drastically several years ago. Though it varies state to state, most places carry stiff penalties for even possessing small amounts of it. Its completely up to the judge to determine what type of sentence she receives, and if she’s lucky she’ll have a judge that will show compassion and leniency, not go by the book, and give your friend only probation or drug court due to the fact that it is her first offense. But that’s a total crap shoot. It’s more likely she will receive some sort of sentence that includes a jail or prison term. Good luck. P.S. if she can afford a lawyer, get one. Public defenders just do not do as good a job as a lawyer you pay for.
