just don’t drink and take it easy the next day by not leaving the house
go bowling , throw a sober party with friends in the program , find a friend that wants to play chess
you don’t have to stay in, theres plenty of sober functions. bout every group i know of has a new year’s party every year and in all honesty, those have been more fun than any drunk new year’s celebration i’ve been to
Congrats on 2 New Years Eves of staying clean!
It’s just another day among the 366 which will make up 2008. It isn’t the be all end all.
I knew a good number of substance abusers and alcoholics who REFUSED to go out for New Years. They called it “amateur night” and were worried about some idiot getting them killed.
Please be safe, just turn on the TV and watch the ball drop and know that millions of others are doing the same…many of them are in the same situation as you.
May you all have a safe, healthy, happy, sober New Year.
this will be my first sober one in a very long time, your not alone,i only quit last march, you know how bad I WANT a drink right now……
Well done hun, just know that it’s only one night of the year and your health and sanity are much more important than going out and getting wasted. You’re not alone, I am staying in with my hubby and baby tonight, I’m not drinking – let’s raise our glasses of juice together! Happy new year!
just get with friends and family who know that you are recovering and make a celbration….that in itself is celebration enough!!! congratulations!!!!!
GO ROLLERSKATING!! You’ll need all your energy to get around the rink, and it’s great exercise. Need someone to go with? Give me a holla! Love it! =)
Smile, you’re much better off…!!!
I have fun all the time, every day without drinking, I am sure you can too. Just because it is a “holiday” doesn’t mean you have to party or even leave your house. Invite someone over or do something else you enjoy. Lots and lots of people celebrate without drinking. I honestly don’t even see why drinking makes things better, go out with your friends if you want to and be the DD. I have done that before and had a very wonderful time.
Congrats on making it to your 2nd year.
I don’t suppose a sober adult encounter is on the menu of possibilities!
Who says you need to go out on New Year’s Eve.
Congratulations! Don’t stay in, get some friends together and go out. Don’t let it stop you. Take care x
