The drugs are needed to help restore the functioning of the brain back to its normal state. The medication also relieves the patient of the craving for heroin or the drug that they were addicted to and suppresses withdrawal symptoms. By doing this, the medication ensures that the patient will have less reasons to go into relapse. The medication makes it easier for the patient to recover faster.

Sometimes when a person has been on a drug for too long, a sudden withdrawal could send them into shock, a coma, or even kill them. They help restore the body’s natural homeostasis and equilibrium. They also them as blockers, so if the person falls off the wagon and does the drug again, the medication will prevent their body from absorbing it, thus they won’t get their “high” and will ultimately make them quit…or at least that is the idea.

They use drugs because the individual is too weak to go it alone. But, I can tell you for damn sure that if they send one of these heroin addicts to jail, they DON’T get drug therapy, they MUST go COLD TURKEY. So, in my opinion, it’s a way for someone, somewhere, to make money off of addicts.

GETTING OFF DRUGS IS NOT EASY AND OFTEN PAIN-FULL AND A TAPERED WITHDRAWAL IS BETTER THAN GOING COLD TURKEY BOTH EMOTIONALLY AND PHYSICALLY
