Question by MarkG: Now that the FDA has banned Caffeine & Alcohol premixed drinks,?
Does that mean we should no longer drink “Rum & Coke” unless its made with caffeine free Coke?
For that matter what about those mixed drinks which use Red Bull?
Should Bar’s be prevented from serving coffee to patrons who have consumed alcohol?

Instead of an outright ban, should the FDA required a warning label on the can instead, just like what is on a pack of cigarettes…

So how come cigarettes aren’t banned now….

Is this another example of heavy handed government not thinking through the issue and blindly imposing its will ?

Question by Jeff: what are some alcoholic drinks that actually taste good?
I’m trying to find an alcoholic drink that will taste good to me, I’m 22 and have never been able to find anything alcoholic that I really liked the taste of, and whenever I go out with friends I’m usually the only one who’s not really drinking (or drunk eventually), which kinda sucks sometimes. Can anyone recommend anything for me? I hate the taste of all carbonated drinks, I don’t drink soda of any kind, I don’t like the way it makes my mouth feel.

Best answer:

Answer by Chanteuse_ar
So why do you have to find an alcoholic drink that you like if so far you don’t like any of them. If you don’t like it, don’t drink it. It doesn’t suck for you that you’re not drinking when you’re out with friends…it sucks for them because they’re not comfortable drinking unless everyone in the group is too and they feel intimidated. Tell them to get over it, or find new friends.

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by Hi Ok Bye!: If someone drinks a glass of whiskey or two per day, isn’t it a start of alcoholism?
I noticed that my mom can’t skip a day without drinking Whiskey. She has two to three glasses a day. I always tell her “calmly” that she should stop drinking that much. But today I burst out and got angry at her, when I saw her drinking whiskey on lunch. I mean who has whiskey on Lunch?
She’s having more than 2 whiskeys per day. She’s not getting drunk, but if she continues that way, she might be on her way to alcoholism. Am I not right to feel concerned?

Question by Anne L: How will binge drinking (excess of 5 drinks) two times weekly affected a person with heart disease?
I am wondering if there is a medical doc out there who could give me some insight into a situation with a loved one? He is diagnosed with heart disease and the related med. conditions that go with this dx. He has also had kidney stone problems, new issues, for the past two months. Seems after he binge drinks, only red wine, of course….Good for the heart. He has to miss work the next day and attributes it to upset stomack and kidney stone pain. He has been a long time heavy drinker for most of his life and he is 51. Tryglycerd. levels not in good zone and either is HDL, too low. Continues to drink and has become emotionally and physcially numb. Zero sex drive and desire for affection and wants to end our relationship because I need more. Many issues here. Is it the alcohol. I keep thinking he is going to die soon if he continues with his denial.

Best answer:

Answer by whatelsewhatever
He is an alcoholic..he needs serious help, BUT he has to want the help. He is causing serious damage to his body and hurting everyone around him. You can go to a Alanon group (not sure if I spelled it right) for partners and/or family of alcoholics, they are free and all over the US

Question by J B: What persuades you to drink non alcoholic drinks at home? Or what would persuade you?
Given the vast array of alcopops, beers, spirits etc, what makes you buy non alcoholic drinks like Shloer and Appletiser? Obviously it might be because you don’t want to be drinking alcohol, but what other reasons is it? What makes such drinks so appealing?

Best answer:

Answer by i_do_not_like_stupidity
I don’t drink nonalcoholic drinks like that because they taste like crap, and they are full of sugar (or cancerogenous matter, if they are sugar free). They are anything but appealing
I drink lots of coffee, tea, a cup or so of milk, juice once in a while, and energy drink or Pepsi once in a blue moon. I drink coffee because I need it to survive, herbal tea to relax me, juice because it tastes good, especially when it’s hot outside, energy drinks to stay awake, and Pepsi when we’re grilling hamburgers because it just tastes right with fresh hamburgers.
