Question by deirdre lj: I need to find alcohol rehabs in Cumberland, Maine. How?
I need to know how I’m going to find alcohol rehabs. I have just recently gotten wind of the news that my bestfriend is now suffering from alcoholism. I think this was due to the fact that she has just recently divorced her husband. I never thought that she would become an alcoholic herself, since she always used to hate it when her husband comes home drunk. I really want to help her even if I can’t go there. How can I?

Best answer:

Answer by angelena lb
The links below will help you in your search for alcohol rehabs. You can also call a helpline such as 800-559-9503 so that other people more adept at handling cases like these can give you suggestions. Bear in mind, though, that rehab isn’t all that your bestfriend needs. She would also need your support, encouragement, and understanding. Make sure that she feels that you’re there for her. It will help her get through the long process of rehabilitation.

Answer by chatterbox4667
I commend you in trying to help your brother – just remember – he is in charge of his own destiny.
Therefore I decided to give you a little information on Al-Anon – for loved ones trying to help; like yourself.

Who are the members of Al-Anon and Ala teen?
Al-Anon and Ala teen members are people just like you and me–people who have been affected by someone else’s drinking. They are parents, children, spouses, partners, brothers, sisters, other family members, friends, employers, employees, and coworkers of alcoholics. No matter what our specific experience has been we share a common bond: we feel our lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking.

And now for your brother
Information on A.A.
Alcoholics Anonymous® is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes.

Question by Vanessa: Husband has problem & will only go to counseling if it’s free & I find counselor should I be concerned?
My husband and I are in desperate need of counseling as my husband has had a problem with sexual addiction. Hes already told me he doesn’t have a problem and that he will not pay for someone to “tell you what you already know” and will only go to a free counselor that I find. I am very hurt and distraught over all this… What does that signify and what should I do? Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by Cappy
Find a 12 step group in your area that focuses on sexual addictions. Those don’t cost anything. Pastor’s frequently do counseling for free. Call your local churches and find out who’s willing to do counseling.

Question by AO099: How do you find confidence when you’re entering a masters program with no prior knowledge?
I’m entering a MS program in addiction counseling. I have no firsthand experience or secondhand experience with addiction. All I know is that I would really like to help people.

Best answer:

Answer by ownpool
Remember that the program has confidence that you can complete it, or you would not have been admitted.

I think you need to be careful to distinguish confidence from experience. If experience were a qualification, you probably would not have been admitted. So, experience is not a qualification.

Success in a program to learn a healing profession is not based on personal experience with disease or illness. It is based on understanding the treatment of the clients with whom you will work, under your instructor’s direction, during the program.

Question by brittani LS: Do you know where can I find alcoholism treatment centers in Forest Grove, Pennsylvania?
My stepmother is asking for my help to find an alcoholism treatment center where she can admit her daughter. Sabina, my stepsister has been addicted to alcohol ever since our dad died. Though we weren’t very close, I still want her back to her normal state for she’s still my sister. Please help me.

Best answer:

Answer by arleen a
Searching for an alcoholism treatment center is easy. All you have to do is ask your city’s health office for referrals or ask your local doctors for a list of treatment centers in your city or state. If that don’t help, try using the links below.

Question by caltam84: Do teetotalers find it unfair that drinkers get health benefits from moderate alcohol consumption?
I heard that people who drink (alcoholic beverages) in moderation can get some health benefits. One health benefit is the lower risk of heart disease. Of course, there is nothing wrong with being a teetotaler.

Do some teetotalers get irked or bothered by the news? And to think that this is unfair?

Best answer:

Answer by Trouser Chili
Teetotalers are in despair, wringing their hands, and are in awe with the knowledge the average extremely heavy drinker will outlive them.

Question by ashley dw: I would like to find alcohol rehabs in Kerhonkson, New York. Help?
I have just recently gotten wind of the news that my best friend is now suffering from alcoholism. This really shocked me because back when we lived in the same town, she wouldn’t even touch a glass of beer, much less drink it. Now she’s asking for my help in bringing back the old her– the one who was sober. I would like to find alcohol rehabs for her but I don’t know how.

Best answer:

Answer by athziri cc
I’m sorry that has happened to your best friend. It’s tough, isn’t it? I also had a friend who was an alcoholic but he has already gotten himself treated, so now he’s back to sobriety. I think your support and encouragement will really go a long way in helping out your best friend. Just keep on being there for her. As for finding alcohol rehabs, you can use the links below as these will help you in your search. You can also ask her to get recommendations from a doctor or attend AA meetings.

What do you think? Answer below!
