Bear in mind, though, that rehab isn’t all that your bestfriend needs. She would also need your support, encouragement, and understanding. Make sure that she feels that you’re there for her. It will help her get through the long process of rehabilitation.

My brother is alcoholic- he had family, kid and because of the alcoholism he lost everything what he had. I need to find a doctor (good one)who will help to him to became a normal person (this is a first time when he asked for help). Find a 12 step group in your area that focuses on sexual addictions. Those don’t cost anything. Pastor’s frequently do counseling for free. Call your local churches and find out who’s willing to do counseling.

Remember that the program has confidence that you can complete it, or you would not have been admitted.

I think you need to be careful to distinguish confidence from experience. If experience were a qualification, you probably would not have been admitted. So, experience is not a qualification.

Success in a program to learn a healing profession is not based on personal experience with disease or illness. It is based on understanding the treatment of the clients with whom you will work, under your instructor’s direction, during the program.

Question by caltam84: Do teetotalers find it unfair that drinkers get health benefits from moderate alcohol consumption?
I heard that people who drink (alcoholic beverages) in moderation can get some health benefits. One health benefit is the lower risk of heart disease. Of course, there is nothing wrong with being a teetotaler.

Do some teetotalers get irked or bothered by the news? And to think that this is unfair?

I’m sorry that has happened to your best friend. It’s tough, isn’t it? I also had a friend who was an alcoholic but he has already gotten himself treated, so now he’s back to sobriety. I think your support and encouragement will really go a long way in helping out your best friend. Just keep on being there for her.
